What we do
We support children to reach their full potential!
We Fund
We are in search of opportunities to help as many young people as possible. We approach and fund those who are in need.
We Care
Our children need a helpful hand and right guidance at every stage. Here’s where we take care of them like our own through various activities.
We Educate
We run an after-school program to provide support and mentorship for the students who face learning challenges and struggle to keep up.
We Love
Our TOB Family spreads love and cultivates an inclusive, supportive community, empowering hundreds of children to build their future.
Our After School Program
The After-School Program is one of Teach on the Beach’s foundational initiatives and a cornerstone of our community impact. Since its launch, we have provided free academic support to more than 500 children from the surrounding community.
The program focuses on strengthening core subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, and structured homework support. Students are grouped by academic level and learning needs, using a color-coded table system (red, yellow, orange, and green) to ensure targeted and effective instruction.
To further build literacy skills, we introduced a reading comprehension component, where students engage with age-appropriate texts and actively demonstrate their understanding through discussion and exercises. Qualified teachers and trained volunteers support students throughout the sessions, offering one-on-one tutoring and mentorship where needed.
Over the years, we have collaborated with more than 800 local and international volunteers, both short-term and long-term, who contribute directly to the children’s learning experience. The impact is measurable: students show clear improvements in academic confidence and performance, consistently reflected in their term examination results.

Our News Hour Program
The News Hour Program, also known as Neighborhood News Hour, is designed to strengthen critical thinking, media literacy, and global awareness among young people in the Busua community.
During guided sessions, students watch selected news segments together with trained volunteers and educators. The group then discusses key topics such as politics, economics, climate change, conflict, and major global and local events, with a strong focus on relevance to everyday life in Ghana and the Busua community.
The program currently supports over 100 students aged 13 to 19, helping them understand complex global issues in an age-appropriate and culturally grounded way. Volunteers play a crucial role by breaking down difficult vocabulary and concepts, encouraging open discussion, and supporting students in expressing their own perspectives with confidence.
To foster leadership and communication skills, one student is selected each week to present a news story, promoting public speaking, critical analysis, and peer learning. The program empowers young people not only to stay informed, but to actively engage with the world around them as thoughtful and informed citizens.

Our Scholarship Program
The Scholarships Program is one of Teach on the Beach’s key initiatives, designed to remove financial barriers and give talented children and youth the opportunity to pursue their education from Primary school all the way to University. Since its launch, we have provided full-time scholarships to over 20 children and youth, covering tuition, learning materials, and mentorship support.
The program focuses on identifying students with academic potential and motivation, while also considering financial need. Selected scholars receive guidance, mentorship, and tailored support to help them succeed both academically and personally.
Precious Mensah – Precious is 12 years old and lives in Busua with her parents and five siblings. Precious attends Busua Methodist Primary School, where she ranks 5th in her class. She loves reading and playing “Ampe,” and dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. Her scholarship has given her the opportunity to focus on her studies, bringing her closer to achieving her goals.
Jerry – Jerry, an 11-year-old scholar at Humpat International School, balances his love for football with strong academic dedication. Growing up in a family running a small village shop, he aspires to become a bank manager to support both his family and his community.
Sofia – Sofia received a scholarship to continue her senior high education and has excelled in both academics and extracurricular activities. With her parents working long hours to provide for the family, Sofia’s scholarship has allowed her to focus on learning and personal growth, inspiring younger students in her community to pursue education with determination.

Our Swim Lesson
The Swimming & Surfing Program is a safety and life-skills initiative designed to help children in the Busua community build confidence, resilience, and essential water skills.
Living in a coastal community, the ocean is part of everyday life. However, for many children it also presents real risks. Most children in Busua do not know how to swim, and parents often discourage beach access out of fear of drowning. To address this, Teach on the Beach provides free, regular swimming lessons for children from absolute beginners to intermediate swimmers, with a strong focus on water safety and gradual skill development.
In 2024, the program expanded to include free surfing lessons, offering children safe access to a sport that is deeply rooted in the local culture. With proper training and guidance, students learn balance, discipline, and respect for the ocean.
Beyond physical skills, swimming and surfing foster self-belief and personal growth. The program also creates meaningful connections between children and volunteers, where learning and trust develop through shared experience.
Activities
Water safety instruction, beginner-to-intermediate swim training, surf lessons, skill progression monitoring, student support and supervision.
Our Kwan Pa Educational Center
In 2023, Teach on the Beach began construction of the Kwan Pa Educational Center, a sustainable social hub designed to support children and youth in Busua. “Kwan Pa,” which means “Good Road,” will serve as a safe and inspiring space where young people can access tutoring, resources, and programs that foster learning, creativity, leadership, and wellness.
The center addresses the needs of children who lack the tools and support systems necessary to succeed in school. Through academic support, arts, sports, and personal development programs, Kwan Pa will help students discover their potential and grow into empowered, community-minded individuals.
Beyond education, the center is designed as a hub for positive change, bringing together volunteers, families, and community members to serve, collaborate, and build a stronger, brighter future.
Whether you bring construction skills or simply a willingness to help, your time and effort contribute directly to laying the foundation for a new generation of confident, capable, and empowered youth.
